5 luxury apartments I’d rent if I was a rich millennial investment banker instead of a dad who sends newsletters

Occasionally, I find myself in Charlotte’s most luxurious apartment complexes thinking: “Damn, being young, baby-less and rich in this city looks freaking incredible.”

Charlotte Investment Banking Analysts just out of college are pulling down an $82,500 base salary with a $51,500 annual bonus on average. That’s a lot of coin. That’s especially a lot of coin for a young person without many responsibilities (and no, I’m not counting dogs).

If I was a young, single investment banker, here’s a short list of swanky apartments I’d consider.


This Fourth Ward high-rise understands the sky is the limit (did you like that?), with two adjoining 23-story towers and swanky rooftop lounges. Skyhouse has 672 apartment units, 336 in each tower.

Nestled right in the heart of South End on the rail trail, this is largely known as the premier apartment complex outside of Uptown and draws urban-lovers both young and old who just don’t want to deal with the hassle of home ownership. Ashton South End has 310 apartment units.

  • Two bedroom apartments range from $2,074/month to $3,245/month.
  • Two and a half bedroom apartments average at $3500/month.
