Mattie’s Diner was a fixture at the Music Factory for years.

It was small but comfy, and open late at night for the after-concert crowd.

At least, that is, until it closed down suddenly in fall 2015 as construction descended on the Music Factory in earnest. The owners flirted with the idea of quickly moving and rebranding as Jackie Bones, but that didn’t materialize.

Now, Mattie’s Diner has apparently found a new home.

Julie Porter, president of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Housing Partnership, said Wednesday that Mattie’s Diner would be putting stakes down at the Brightwalk development and re-opening in about a year.

Brightwalk is the mixed-income community about a mile north of the Music Factory.

When fully built out, Brightwalk will have about 450 subsidized apartments for people making 60 percent of the area’s median income or less.

There will also be 320 single-family homes priced at the market rate. The ones currently built are selling for around $400,000.
