I don’t want to say that food truck rallies in Charlotte are kid-unfriendly.

It’s just that most of them are in vast swaths of gravel or asphalt, with a lot of standing in line. Not the sort of thing I can take my rambunctious 6-year-old to, at least not without a meltdown. Most likely my own.

That’s why I’m particularly excited about a new food truck rally starting next month in Cotswold.

The weekly Friday night event is prominently featuring some kid-friendly amenities. The first event will be March 3 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Location: Trinity Presbyterian Church on Providence Road.

What makes it special? Two words: Gated playground.

This food truck rally is going to have a gated kids playground plus indoor bathrooms. No alcohol sold on site, but it’s fully BYOB. Win-win-win.

There’s also going to be live music, but I’m much more excited about this playground.

Who’s going to be there?

The rally is sponsored by the folks at Carolina Commercial Kitchen, where about 25 food trucks prepare their food. No set lineup for the first event yet, but the kitchen’s clients include Papi Queso, Southern Cake Queen, Street Spice, Gyro Twins, Vito’s Pizza and Rocky Top BBQ.
