After nearly six years in the food truck business, OooWee BBQ is opening a permanent restaurant in Pineville.
It’ll be on Johnston Drive, just a few steps from the main drag of downtown. The building used to be Maestro’s Bar and Bistro.
Owners George and Amie Leach say they want to “hand craft this property into Pineville’s local barbecue restaurant.”
The space is still under renovation.
I peeked inside and it’s still too early to show you what the decor will be. But there’s ample parking and a nice patio.
The move follows the trend in Charlotte’s food truck industry.
Increasingly, established food trucks are putting their focus on more stable lines of business. TIN Kitchen and Roots have moved heavily into catering. Papi Queso has been said to be exploring a restaurant location.
“This food truck life/ food industry is not for the faint of heart so we are very happy the hard work is paying off,” George Leach said.
No word yet on the menu at the restaurant.
Here’s hoping you’ll be able to get their BBQ Sundaes. Yes, that’s barbecue, baked beans, mac and cheese and cole slaw all layered in a cup.
