While many believe that the growth and popularity of breweries will eventually flatten or decline, especially with more supply hitting the market, Agenda research shows that breweries could actually be more popular in 2017.

We polled our 21,000+ Agenda daily newsletter subscribers and asked: Will going to Charlotte breweries become more or less popular in 2017? The results:

  • Same level of popularity: 66.07%
  • More popular: 27.34%
  • Less popular: 6.59%

Only two breweries opened in 2016, but Charlotte will likely see at least four new breweries in 2017.

2016 openings: Blue Blaze Brewing and Thirsty Nomad Brewing.

2017 brewery openings will include: Bold Missy Brewery (NoDa),  Divine Barrel Brewing (NoDa), Hyde Brewing (South End), Artisanal Brewing Ventures and Catawba Brewing (Belmont).

In 2017, the total number of Charlotte breweries should go from 17 to 21 and given demand, there doesn’t seem to be any immediate reason that breweries won’t continue their financial and cultural domination in Charlotte.
