Amelie’s French Bakery & Cafe is going into the Backlot at Park Road Shopping Center. Construction is underway and expect this Charlotte hotspot to open in early 2017.
This new Amelie’s location will be roughly 5,000 square feet and there will also be a patio. The inside is one giant room with high ceilings and only a few windows. I expect it have that exposed loft-style feel.
I tried to get juicy details, but all Marketing Director Patricia Morris would tell me is, “We have some amazing plans and ideas…” More scoop to come as the project gets closer to completion.
I love the bones of the space. Here’s a look at where construction currently stands.

For those living in a cave, Amelie’s is the delicious French bakery know for its Salted Carmel Brownies (yum) and eclectic space.
I’m a huge fan of their baked goods and I love that their NoDa location is open 24/7. Amelie’s also serves beer and wine – but it’s definitely more a coffee shop/bakery vibe than a bar vibe.
Their other five locations include NoDa (original), Atlanta, Rock Hill, Carmel Commons (new) and Uptown (new).
Amelie’s will be located in the Park Road Shopping Center’s Backlot – about 75 yards from Rocksalt.
The Backlot is booming. In addition to Amelie’s, a Midwood Smokehouse is targeting a February opening and a speakeasy named Dot Dot Dot is targeting a March opening. 2017 may come to be known as “The Year of the Backlot.” Okay, that’s a little too much.
