Home decor author and blogger Myquillyn Smith is ready to welcome a crowd to her Midland farm this weekend for a day of handmade/vintage goods, entertainment and food.
Smith has a notable online following (more than 70,000 Instagram followers) and runs The Nesting Place blog and wrote a 2014 book of the same name. Her ethos could be described by that work’s description: “Perfection is overrated.”
She’s all about embracing and making beautiful what’s already in your home.
Nest Fest will take place rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on her family’s farm at The White Barn (3202 River Road in Midland). Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of (cash only). Children under 12 are free. Admission is free after 3 p.m.
There will be more than 50 vendors, book signings from several authors, music (think banjos) and food trucks on site.
If you’re not familiar with Midland, it’s about a 40-minute drive east of Charlotte. If you’re looking to make a day trip out of it, check out nearby Reed Gold Mine or grab a pumpkin at Riverbend Farm.
