I’ve been to the Charlotte City Club on several occasions. Most recently for a wedding (very popular venue) and a fundraising breakfast event.

I was struck by the size of the space and I love the large amount of small rooms that make up the space.

Charlotte City Club has about 1,000 members and is located on the 31st floor of the 121 West Trade building in Uptown Charlotte.

Membership Director Julie Horanski told me that “Most people join (and utilize) the Club for business and social networking.”

How do you join the Charlotte City Club?

  • Step 1: Inquire. You can be introduced through an existing member of just send an inquiry via email through their website.
  • Step 2: Tour. Prospective members are then invited to visit the for a tour where the staff will walk you through the membership process and answer questions.
  • Step 3: Sponsorship. You must know a current member for sponsorship. The member list is private, but if you don’t know a member, the club can facilitate an introduction.
  • Step 4: Apply. Pretty simple.

Resident Membership

Accommodates individuals 35 and older who reside in or whose primary place of business is in Mecklenburg County or adjacent counties (Gaston, Lincoln, Iredell, Cabarrus, Union, York, and Lancaster). Members and their immediate families enjoy full membership privileges, including dining, networking opportunities, meeting space access, attendance at all club-sponsored events, and reciprocal privileges at over 300 private clubs.

Initiation Fee: $4,500
Monthly Dues: $179
Food & Beverage Minimum: $75 quarterly

Young Professional Membership

Younger members, ages 21 to 34 with the same residential and business guidelines as outlined above for Resident members, fall into this category. At age 35, Young Professional members will become Resident members and pay applicable Resident status dues. Members and their immediate families enjoy full membership privileges, including dining, networking opportunities, meeting space access, attendance at all club-sponsored events, and reciprocal privileges at over 300 private clubs.

Initiation Fee: Sliding Scale Based Upon Age*

  • Age 21-27: $1,250
  • Age 28: $1,500
  • Age 29: $1,750
  • Age 30: $2,000
  • Age 31: $2,250
  • Age 32: $2,500
  • Age 33: $2,750
  • Age 34: $3,000

Monthly Dues: $119
F&B Minimum: $75 Quarterly

Executive Membership

Officers, executives, or employees of a corporation or firm may apply under this category. Membership is for an individual’s use and is subject to individual approval by the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors. Executive membership is transferable to one designee within the respective business. Individual members and their immediate families enjoy full membership privileges, including dining, networking opportunities, meeting space access, attendance at all club-sponsored events, and reciprocal privileges at over 300 private clubs.

Initiation Fee: $5,000
Monthly Dues: $179
F&B Minimum: $75 Quarterly
Reassignment Fee: $1,000


Optional Add-on: Signature Gold Membership

Executive, Resident, and Young Professional members may choose to add on the Signature Gold Membership to receive access to Club Corp’s vast network of private clubs. (This is different and separate from the reciprocal club program.) Members may choose between two classes of Gold Membership to fit their needs – dining and/or golf. Each includes:

  • Clubline concierge services for making reservations and tee times.
  • Access to VIP tickets for virtually any sporting, concert, or theatre event in the U.S.
  • 20% off select packages at Club resorts, including Pinehurst, Barton Creek Resort & Spa, and the Homestead.
  • Special travel and entertainment offerings throughout the year.

Signature Gold Dining

Privileges at world-class clubs around the country, such as the City Club Raleigh, the Piedmont Club in Winston Salem, and the Metropolitan Club on the 67th floor of the famous Willis (Sears) Tower in Chicago. Member or spouse receives complimentary dining at over 60 Associate Business Clubs (two 4-course meals per Business Club every 30 days).*

Monthly Dues: $30
*Excludes sales tax, service charge, specialty drinks, and alcoholic beverages.
**Initiation fee is waived for those who enroll in Signature Gold Dining when applying for membership at Charlotte City Club.

Signature Gold Unlimited

Benefits include all Signature Gold Dining privileges plus complimentary green fees at over 140 Associate Clubs and Signature courses, including Devil’s Ridge in Raleigh, Woodside Plantation in Aiken, Golf Club at Indigo Run, Hilton Head, Firestone, and Granite Bay. Member or spouse receives two rounds per property per 30 days. Guests pay prevailing green fees.

Monthly Dues: $65
