I have long anticipated the opening of a new wine and cake shop next to Craft in South End. And it’s almost here to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth (among many other things).
What is it?
The Gallery M is located at 1320 South Church Street, right next to Craft in South End. The space was leased out by Brooks Whiteside who represented the landlord (Whiteside Industrial is focused on bringing the community aspect back to South End, but more on that at a later time).
Owner Ana Antonio has brought South End, and Charlotte in general, something we didn’t know we needed but we will certainly go to.
The Gallery M will serve top-of-the-line cakes, fantastic coffee, light fare, cheese plates and unique wine from all over the world.
The cheeses and meats will be from both local creameries and abroad and the beer will be local as will. Here’s the best part…the art. Yes, art. Not only can you get a nice drink and slice of cake, but art will be featured inside the building.
Currently, Ana’s husband is the primary artist but she hopes as time goes on, the space can be utilized to showcase art from local artists.
Why do you care?
The Gallery M will be a great local spot to not only enjoy art, but satisfy any sweet cravings you may have. On top of that, you can get your morning coffee or a light sandwich, all in the comforts of a quaint little spot.
The Gallery M will also have a patio that can fit about 30 with shade. “Chill” music will play throughout the venue only adding to the ambiance.
Ana hopes to host events and private parties in the space as well, and has already received numerous requests to do so. Among those early requests, are orders for their famous cakes (seriously, look them up).
When can you use it?
The Gallery M is set to open in late June so it is right around the corner! Craft and Gallery M will compliment each other perfectly and continue to add to a walkable neighborhood feel in the area.
