Charlotte Jr. Gym, known for its kid-friendly classes that got children up and moving in their 2,200-square-foot facility, hosted its last class earlier this month.

This was the gym at 201 Rampart Street that offered Stay’N’Play classes for younger children and pre-gymnastics classes for children up to 4.

If you’re a parent, there’s probably a good chance you’ve been there.

My son and I went there recently for a birthday party and the place was amazing – my son didn’t stop.

After 20 years of business with 11 in the same location, the company’s lease was not renewed, a decision that the gym owners say is “sad.” They haven’t been able to find a new location.

“Being a small business (whose clientele still takes naps!), thus far, we have been unable to find another feasible/affordable location,” they wrote in a statement on their website.

Leaving South End without a new home on the horizon might be “progress, [but] it’s sad progress, in our book,” they said.

Owners Willows, Kathy and Zina are grateful for the parents that let them care for their children and the joy that the children brought to them.

How sad is this photo?

Without anywhere to go, the company sold their equipment, which included a Thomas the Train air tunnel, toys chairs and gymnastics-centered items.

There’s no word yet on what will replace the gym.
