A new holiday tradition is coming to Charlotte this year and Christmas fans are going to react with a Buddy the Elf level of enthusiasm.

I know summer’s not even officially over yet but this is some of you right now anyway:

Charlotte Christmas Village will take over Romare Bearden Park from November 24 through December 24.

The gates will open following the opening ceremony for the Thanksgiving Day Parade and admission is free through Christmas Eve.

They’re expecting 250,000 people to visit the market throughout the month.

It’ll be a German-inspired christkindlmarkt complete with vendors in wooden huts, dance and choral performances, specialty foods and, of course, glühwein, a spiced wine served hot.

You’ll get to shop for traditional handmade crafts and gifts and eat your way through German strudels, bratwurst and sauerkraut.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year (behind Halloween, of course, which I’d like to remind you has not even happened yet this year).

To assess the likelihood of any actual winter weather during this delightful winter event, I consulted the voodoo meteorological magic of the Farmer’s Almanac.

And I regret to inform you that: “Winter will be warmer than normal, with below-normal precipitation and near- to below-normal snowfall.”

In that case, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for a snow machine.
