The price for long-term parking at Charlotte Douglas International Airport will be rising this month in the face of unprecedented local travel demand, according to a memo from the city manager.
The current long-term parking rate is $5 per day. This will move to $7 per day beginning September 9, according to the city.
Curbside valet will also get more expensive — from $28 to $35 daily.
The changes are necessary, the airport says, because of “record-setting local passenger travel.” The hourly deck will keep a $20 daily max and daily parking garages will stay at $10.
These price increases are the second step in a plan developed in 2014. The first increases hit valet parking, the hourly parking garage and daily parking. The city plans to do a comprehensive review of airport parking service and demand — and expects to put out a bid for the contract to do so in early 2017.
