On-demand grocery delivery service Instacart has expanded to six new ZIP codes in the Charlotte area.

The San Francisco-based service can now be found in the 28226, 28212, 28277, 28270, 28217 and 28134 areas. With the addition of the six, the area that Instacart covers has more than doubled in size.

These ZIP codes cover Ballantyne, Pineville, the length of N.C. 51, Olde Providence, Sardis Forest and the area around Renaissance Park — as well as Idlewild Road to the east.

Refresher course: Instacart is essentially the Postmates of the grocery shopping world.

For a small fee (under $10), shoppers can order brand-name items from places like Total Wine, Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Costco, BJ’s and Whole Foods down to specifics like the ripeness of bananas.

Along with the addition of the new ZIP codes, the company is adding two new partnerships to the mix: Publix and Petco.

The decision to add Publix comes after a success trial in the company’s Miami market.

According to Founder and CEO Apoorva Mehta, both Publix and Instacart “share a common mission – to get premier quality food into the hands of as many people as possible.”

Petco is also making its debut on the app and can officially say that it’s the first pet specialty store available to Charlotte through Instacart.
