One single block of North Davidson Street has become a hotbed of activity. And in the coming months, they’ll deliver restaurant and retail that will make the entryway to the neighborhood even more popular.
Four spots — Haberdish, Popbar, Mango’s and Juice Box — are currently under construction. All four are on North Davidson Street, between 34th and 35th Street.
This strip is the entryway to the heart of NoDa, and contributes mightily to the vibe of the neighborhood.
Here’s quick look at what we know about what’s coming.

Haberdish will be known for its patio, Southern cooking and Southern decor — as well as cocktails.
“We are trying to get down to NoDa’s roots as a mill town,” said cofounder Jeff Tonindandel, who’s also behind Crepe Cellar and Growlers (so he knows this area well).

This New York City-based gelato-on-a-stick concept is rapidly franchising in California and Florida, but this will be the first and (so far) only North Carolina location. The local owners say it should open in the coming months.

The owner of Vivian B. Boutique, formerly located there, indicated on Instagram that she’ll be involved with the new business but says they’re “switching gears.” Unclear if this will remain a boutique … or actually be a juice bar.
Address: 3112 North Davidson
Plans filed with the city show that this will be a western Caribbean restaurant & bar. This has been in the works for more than two years, but it looks like things may be getting off the ground. Plans call for a covered deck on the side of the property.
Of course, all of these new businesses will go along mainstays like Crepe Cellar, NoDa Grocery and Growlers Pourhouse. And they’ll be popular as the next block north becomes more residential. Several apartment communities are in the works for the next few blocks of North Davidson.
Keep an eye on the Agenda as they develop.
