If you know me at all, you know that I basically only ever eat at Dean & Deluca on Fairview.

It’s come to the point that I’ve mastered their salad bar so well that I can craft a quality salad to be less than $6. Whenever my mom and I go for dinner, it’s become sort of a contest about who can make their salad the cheapest while still ordering everything they want in sufficient quantity.

The pricing is based off weight, and when you make it a vegetarian salad, the cost comes out to $9.50/lb.

My go-to salad includes a mix of spinach and mixed greens as the base topped with egg, avocado, grapes, raisins, pine nuts, croutons and goat cheese. The combination of heavy goat cheese with grapes and avocado makes for the perfect, light summer salad, and the protein from the egg and avocado keeps me fuller longer.

Unlike most competitors, they weigh the salad before they put the cups of dressing in.

Keep that in mind and don’t be afraid to go hard with the dressing.

Vegetarian salad, $5.56

If you’re absolutely set on adding chicken to your salad, I’ve found that the price only increases by about $1 or $2.

For the health gurus out there, this salad comes out to about 537 calories. Not to mention, the ingredients are fresh and high quality, so this is an overall steal.
