A new food truck rally will come to South End on Thursdays starting at the end of May.

This rally is organized by the people who were going to do Dilworth Chow Down. They had a location and a date, but the owner of the vacant lot at East and Scott pulled out at the last minute.

They looked for other locations in Dilworth, but were drawn to this one in South End.

First rally will be May 26. Location: 1508 Kee Court.

This is right by Wooden Robot Brewery and the new Golden Cow Creamery. Lots of apartments around there, too.

There is an existing building there and a large grassy field. The trucks will be on pavement, and the grass area will be reserved for attendees of the rally.

There was a rezoning here last year and rumors of townhomes, but for now the site is ideal.

Look for live music and movie nights.

15 food trucks have committed so far, and live music or a DJ a definite. Movie nights might be once a quarter. There are also plans for a tailgating event ahead of the first Panthers preseason game.

No alcohol will be served but people are welcome to bring their own, said rally organizer Edwina Corprew, a partner in Comfort Foods on Wheels.

There’s no set name yet.

The following were suggested by food truck owners.

  • Love the Truck Thursdays
  • Flavor Full Thursdays
  • WhattheTruck Thursdays
  • TastyFoodTruck Thursdays
  • The Flavor of Thursdays
  • Savor the Thursdays
  • Love the Grub Thursdays

If you have thoughts or other suggestions, message the Dilworth Chow Down accounts on Facebook or Twitter. The new name will be announced next week.
