After months and months of construction, city-based delays (no surprise here) and taking the time to get things just right, 204 North is finally ready to open.

For those that need a reminder, 204 North is a restaurant and cocktail bar that we have been covering for quite a while. It is located at 5th and Tryon (next to Ri Ra) and it’s been a highly anticipated project.

I’ve covered extensively how this place will help continue to mature Charlotte. How it will set a new standard for quality of service, ambiance, and repurposing of a building here in Charlotte. Anthony Kearey and his team have created quite a sight to behold the second you walk in the door. Excellent work by Kearey Builders. Just see for yourself…

I haven’t had a chance to try the food yet, but I was very impressed by the cocktails. A little bit of something for everyone from cocktail guru Sam Seiden. And if the food is anything as good as the cocktails, then Chef Franke Jones knocked it out of the park too.

Yes, they know Ballantyne is spelled incorrectly – it’ll be changed by launch.

204 North will be open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week with the kitchen serving the full menu until 1 a.m. The consistency of the hours is great as sometimes it’s hard to know when things are open in Charlotte because hours change so much. Late night full menu is unusual (and awesome) too.

Here’s their current sample menu (this is NOT their full menu):

The decor isn’t complete yet, but I can’t say enough how awe inspiring it is. The 100+ year old windows, walls, ceilings and floors all come together to give the space something that’s so rare in Charlotte: character. The grand stair case and chandelier add to make it clear this is like nothing else you’ve seen in town.

It’s opening Thursday, so be sure to check it out this weekend.

I am excited to see the market realizing there is a huge underserved market of people that want a fantastic cocktail, a fantastic meal, fantastic service and all combined with a fantastic ambience.

See you there.
