The Famous Toastery, a spot known for its Benedicts and French Toast (along with its old name of Toast Café), has signed a deal to move to the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce building at 330 South Tryon.

The deal comes with 5,000 square feet of space that gives Famous Toastery a chance to finally fill the void of business breakfast options in Uptown, something they’ve been trying to do for years.

There are already three branches in Charlotte: Dilworth, Ballantyne and University. Like the others, the Uptown location will be open from 7 a.m to 3 p.m.

The space is multi-level, and the 1,800-square-foot upper level will be used to try something entirely new: a grab ‘n go version of the menu.

Options will include things like breakfast sandwiches and coffees. The rest of the 3,200 square feet will be dedicated to the sit-down portion of the restaurant, said Peyton Gehron, a broker at New South Properties.

Delivery, catering and private event facilities will also be available to patrons.

It’s not a cheap venture. Over $1 million will be invested in transforming the space this year in order for the branch to open in the fall.
