(1) The place
Just seeing The Gallery from the street, you know you’re seeing a unique Charlotte spot. The white and purple exterior pops along the industrial feel of it’s surroundings. When you walk inside, that stark white continues into the interior, but lays a simple backdrop to the bright, textured, abstract canvas paintings. Even the simple café furniture leaves most of the attention to the art, although you may notice the furniture is divided into two different sections.
Ana, the owner, let me in on a little known secret, that the furniture is split into what kind of dining mood your in. Sit in the casual and simple café section for a low-key visit, or choose the fancier, lush section for a date night or girls’ night out.
(2) The events
The Gallery holds so many events it’s hard to count, but the majority usually have a link to the fashion industry. Industry nights, design previews, pop-up shops, trunk shows, and parties have filled up The Gallery’s calendar, and many are open to the public.
(3) The owner
Ana makes you feel ever-so-welcome the moment you walk in and if you’re a regular and don’t yet know her, make it a priority to do so.
She has an extensive background in television and owned a large string of boutiques before moving to Charlotte from the Philippines. Her background and story inspired a lot of what The Gallery is today and hosting fashionable events in her space let’s her continue her passion.
(4) The patrons
On any given day, you can walk into The Gallery Southend and find at least one person who perfectly balances the interesting space. Many artists, bloggers, designers, and the like spend their time here, taking in inspiration from their surroundings and fellow Gallery patrons.
So maybe you’re an artist, a boutique owner, or designer, or someone who appreciates creative industries, find time to visit The Gallery South End and see what it’s all about.
