Seoul Food Meat Company is opening this week (exact date TBD).
I have written extensively about the Gold District and the amazing corridor that is South Church Street — it is rivaling Camden as the main pedestrian corridor of the South End area. So many options are popping up everywhere from drinking spots to ice cream… And now we can add Korean food to the list.
As a refresher, Seoul Food Meat Co. is located at the intersection of Bland and Church and will be serving up Korean flavors with BBQ inspiration. The menu will be straightforward. Pick your meats, share. Pick your sides, share. Some of the menu items that stood out: ramen mac and cheese, kimchi coleslaw, dirty rice and Sriracha cracklings.
And don’t forget a Yuzu jar or the Flavored Soju drinks, or the local and Asian craft beers.
The patio is much bigger than I anticipated and on a nice day (like this weekend) it will help really liven up the area. I was struck by the inside and how much it just seemed to “fit” the neighborhood. I don’t know what I was expecting, but a ceiling lined with rope lights, garage doors and wood tables was not it.
At first they will only be open for dinner, but expansion plans will be in the works — eventually getting to “brewery hours.”
Seoul Food will not only help the Gold District grow but add to the walkability of the entire area. Think about it: You can light rail to the Bland station and in the immediate area you have Futo Buta, South End Station (All American, Slate, etc), Wooden Robot, Craft, Gallery, Magnolia Emporium, Brass Tap, Bulldog, soon-to-be Golden Cow and more.
Stay tuned this week to our Instagram for an official opening date and time.
