Christmas shopping has finally passed and the New Year has officially begun. I’m certainly over searching through scattered sale racks, sequins, and sweaters. In fact, for a few weeks now, I’ve been waiting for spring arrivals to hit the shops here in town.
As a fashion blogger, I very much enjoy keeping an eye on the next season’s trends. But it also motivates me this time of year too. I know you ladies understand.
Spring shopping gets me excited for the warmer weather to come. And personally, it also puts some pressure on me to get to the gym after all the holiday eating. This may be the same reason I prefer to stay inside with my puppy, drinking coffee, and adding cute suits to my Pinterest board most of the winter… but that’s beside the point.
The real point is these 10 local finds can simply freshen up your wardrobe and give you a good idea of upcoming styles to shop this 2016.
(1) Fun, printed yoga pants – Doll. (A Boutique) (Selwyn Ave.)
Fitness is a main priority for most at the beginning of a new year. Work out in style with these yoga pants from Doll. I love my similar Charlotte skyline ones by 704 Shop too. You can find them featured on my Instagram blog, @queencitychic.
(2) High necks – KK Bloom Boutique (Selwyn Ave.)
To be frank, Selwyn Avenue has some of the greatest Charlotte shopping around. Which leads me to my No. 2 and No. 3 local finds.
High necklines will continue to be popular in 2016. KK Bloom is quite the place for dress shopping, so I’m not surprised to find this gorgeous gem there. Love the color of it too.
(3) White blouse – Denim House (Selwyn Ave.)
Also, the color white is a closet essential this spring. Denim House and Lotus have the right idea.
Denim House paired a simple white blouse with cute and casual drawstring pants.
I’m crazy about my next find because I’m crazy about fringe. When I read that this trend will stick around in ELLE’s “Comprehensive Guide Spring 2016 Fashion Trends,” l was beyond thrilled.
(4) Fringe – Lotus (Metropolitan Avenue)
I absolutely love how this sweater could be worn today and again in a few months when it heats up. Who else digs it? I own a fringe purse, boots, necklace — you name it. Fringe is everything.
(5) Keyholes – Boem Boutique (Sharon Road)
My No. 5 pick is also based on a 2016 spring trend mentioned in ELLE’s guide. I adore when dresses have cutouts so I’m feeling this twist on it. A keyhole cut is the new shape and style.
Of course the trendsetting Boem Boutique, formerly Scout & Molly’s, has the latest. This dress combines two of the new trends actually, keyholes AND floral print.
(6) Floral print – L.A. East (Rea Road)
Yes, floral. I’m a sucker for this type of print when it’s springtime.
This floral print is most definitely an exception to my simple, basic wardrobe. I typically try not to buy too many prints because I just change up my accessories. I’ve included a couple of those too!
(7) Wrap necklace – Vestique (East Boulevard)
Wrap necklaces are all the talk right now and I knew just where to find one in town for a reasonable price. Easily dress up a plain sweater, shirt, or graphic tee with one.
(8) Panthers bracelets – Melvin (Kingston Avenue)
Another favorite accessory of mine is a 704 bracelet made by Melvin. Their jewelry is handmade here in Charlotte. I’ve always been a big supporter.
I’m also a HUGE Carolina Panthers supporter. I cannot get enough blue and black with how incredible we are doing this year.
(9) Suede ANYTHING – Tash Boutique (Ballantyne Commons Parkway)
I also can’t get enough suede. Suede clothing has been all the rage this winter and it’s looking like it will stay that way in 2016.
Just lose some of the coverage. On the top left of Tash Boutique’s new arrivals wall is a short sleeve suede dress that I love. Their boho style of jewelry is great here too.
(10) Red dress – Lipp Boutique (Metropolitan Avenue)
Maybe you’re in need of a sexier, fashionable look? That brings me to my last find. Whether it’s a night out uptown with the girls or a future romantic Valentines date, this color and the right shade of lipstick will have you looking the part.
And spotted again here is a high neck dress. Charlotte really does have it goin’ on.
I wish y’all a chic and stylish 2016. I hope these 10 local fashion finds guide you into the new year!
