Sunflour Baking Company will open its second location by the end of the month. The new bakery will be located at 220 East Boulevard in what was formerly Sweet Lorraine’s Bakery. (Thanks to April Smith for the tip!)
The original Sunflour location opened in the Elizabeth neighborhood back in 2009 and quickly made a name for itself in the Charlotte food scene. Husband and wife duo Jack and Umarin Parrish bought it in 2014, combining his business skills and her professional training at Ecole le Norte, a culinary school in Paris.
According to Jack, the East Boulevard location should be open by the third week in January. I dropped in yesterday and it’s coming right along. He says they’re also adding counter seating at the windows like in the original location.
As for the menu, Jack says it’ll be a “copy and paste” replica of what’s currently offered at the original Elizabeth location.
You know what that means: cheddar biscuits.
Sunflour has long been a favorite work spot for me and it served as the Agenda HQ 1.0 back when Ted and I used to meet in the mornings to talk about this website we were gearing up to launch. What I’m saying is we owe them some rent and we’ll pay for it in biscuit purchases.
