While most bars will stay open until last call at 2 a.m., it’s not uncommon for many to shut down their kitchens much earlier, usually around 10 or 11 p.m. Where’s a hungry drinker to go? I’ve pulled together a list of nine restaurants and bars that serve food after 2 a.m. and nine more that keep the kitchen open right up until last call.
All night long: Charlotte bars and restaurants serving food after last call
Grab a fat, foldable slice of pizza ($4 cheese/$5 specialty) served on two paper plates because it won’t fit on one. Or be a hero and feed the whole crew with a massive 28-inch pie. Late hours: Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 3 a.m. (They close at midnight Sunday – Wednesday and 2 a.m. on Thursday.)
These guys are open so late you could just call it breakfast and then sleep straight through the day until tomorrow. Prime after-hours destination in Plaza Midwood. Late hours: Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 4 a.m. (Only open until 11 p.m. all other days.)
Fuel Pizza (Plaza Midwood, South End and Hearst Tower locations)
Fuel locations in three popular nightlife neighborhoods – Plaza Midwood, South End and Uptown – stay open until 3 a.m. to catch hungry stragglers who shut down the bars. Grab a slice and some garlic knots and call it a night, you animal. Late hours: Thursday – Saturday 11 a.m. – 3 a.m.
Most of the main menu (excluding salads and some other items you don’t want to eat after a night of drinking) is available until the wee hours of the morning. I have even heard of people shutting it down here and returning for breakfast (served 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday) the next day. Dedication. Late hours: Friday 11:30 a.m. – 3 a.m., Saturday 9 a.m. – 3 a.m. (Open until 2 a.m. all other nights.)
They’ve got a massive menu filled with burgers, sandwiches, Greek and Italian specialties, standard diner appetizers and breakfast favorites. My favorite thing on there is the humble pizza bagel that looks exactly like the one I used to make as an after school snack when I was little and, oddly enough, is exactly what I want to eat after a night of drinking. There’s also an impressive dessert case if you prefer sweet snacks over savory. Late hours: Friday 6 a.m. – 3 a.m., Saturday 6 a.m. – 4 a.m. (Open until 1 a.m. Monday – Thursday and midnight on Sunday.)
Libretto’s (EpiCentre location)
When the lights come on in the EpiCentre, sweaty clubgoers can find sustenance in the form of pizza. Dancing burns lots of calories so carb up. Important! They also just rolled out delivery until 1 a.m. so you at-home party animals can eat late too. Late hours: Thursday 11 a.m. – 3 a.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 4 a.m. (Open until 2 a.m. Monday – Wednesday and midnight on Sunday.)
This always-open diner is free from the laws of time and space so you get to eat whatever you want whenever you want. Late hours: 24/7/365
I have never eaten this falafel wrap sober but at 2:30 a.m. it is all I need in life. Late hours: Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. – 3 a.m.
The night menu is served from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and features plenty of fried appetizers, steaks, seafood, Italian dishes, hot oven subs and breakfast favorites. Late hours: 24/7/365
