The Agenda Weekender is proudly presented by Charlotte Motor Speedway. Celebrate Halloween at the Speedway this weekend with two drive-in events: On Friday night, bring the fam to SCC’s Not So Scary Halloween Drive-In to see “Hotel Transylvania”. On Saturday night, catch a live performance with Major Lazer as part of the Speedway’s Drive-In Concert Series. 


Note: The Weekender is a list of happenings around the city. Use your discretion to decide what’s in your comfort zone. As always, wear a mask and practice social distancing in public.

Bike Charlotte, Virtual: Now in its 20th year, Bike Charlotte is going virtual to continue the tradition of celebrating all things cycling in the Queen City. Participants are encouraged to ride the selected routes from October 16 through November 8 and share their experiences on social media. Free. October 16 through November 8. Details.

Charlotte Black Restaurant Week: Support local Black-owned businesses by dining in or ordering take out at participating locations. Prices vary. October 19-31. Details.

Haunted Flights at D9 Brewing Company: Now through Halloween, D9 Brewing will be serving Halloween-themed flights that include Leaf Me Alone Lager, Head of the Horseman Pumpkin Ale, Sweater Weather Brown Ale, and Paranormal Porter. Menu prices. 2-10 p.m. Details.

Black Food Truck Friday at 3148 Freedom Drive: Support local Black entrepreneurs and sample an array of cultural cuisines like seafood and soul-food at Black Food Truck Friday on Freedom Drive. In addition to food vendors, there will also be local merchants selling body products, jewelry, and clothing among other things. Free. 3-9 p.m. Details.

Howl-o-weekend at Skiptown: On Friday and Saturday, Skiptown will have a costume picture day for your pooch, and a two-night costume contest. Categories include Cutest Couple (dog and human), Scariest Costume, and King/Queen of Howl-o-ween (Best Overall). A “crowd favorite” winner will be crowned on Saturday via social media voting. $8. 4-11 p.m. Details.

Halloween Steal The Pint at Brewers at 4001 Yancey: When you order a cocktail you’ll receive a complimentary limited edition glass. That’s the premise of this Steal-A-Pint deal at Brewers at 4001 Yancey. Prices vary. 4 p.m. Details.

Virtual Cooking with Chef Alyssa’s Kitchen, Online: In this fall-inspired cooking class, Chef Alyssa will show you how to prepare Pumpkin Galette with ginger-infused marshmallows. Everything you need to follow along with the class is included in the ingredient box. $45 for ingredient box & virtual class, $15 for virtual class only. 5-6 p.m. Details.

Ballantyne Movie Series: Hocus Pocus at Cullman Park Building Parking Lot: Wear your spookiest costume for a festive drive-in movie night in Ballantyne. Enjoy warm, cozy drinks, music, and food before the screening. Then settle into your car or camping chair for the Halloween classic, “Hocus Pocus.” Pre-order from a special Shake Shack menu by noon, October 30 to enjoy dinner at the event. $30. 6-9 p.m. Details.

Movies at Victoria Yards: The Rocky Horror Picture Show at 408 N. Tryon St.: Starting at 6:30 p.m., you can enjoy food trucks and live music. Then at 8:30 p.m. catch a screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Seating is extremely limited and attendees must follow CDC guidelines. Free. 6:30 p.m. Details.

Live in the Lot Comedy Series at The Fillmore Charlotte: They say that laughter is the best medicine, so head over to The Fillmore to enjoy stand-up comedy from Darren “D.S.” Sanders and Jason Allen King. $25. 7 p.m. Details.

Halloween Drive-In Movie Night at Time Out Youth: Time Out Youth and Novant Health are partnering for their first-ever Halloween drive-in movie night. Screenings will include the Halloween classics “Hocus Pocus” and “Rocky Horror Picture Show.” There will be a concessions stand with carhops to serve you right from your car. Note: this event is for LGBTQ+ youth ages 11 to 20. Free. 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Details

Not-So-Scary Halloween Drive-In Movie Night at Charlotte Motor Speedway: Load your car, or broomstick, up with family or friends, and head to the Charlotte Motor Speedway for a Halloween Eve screening of “Hotel Transylvania.” $30 per car. 7 p.m. Details.

Halloween Movie Night at Optimist Hall: Head to the courtyard at Optimist Hall for Halloween-themed cocktails from Spindle Bar, socially distant tarot card reading, and family-favorite movie “Hocus Pocus.” Free. 5 p.m., movie at 8 p.m. Details.

NoDa Ghosts & Legends Livestream: Tune in for an evening of chills and thrills as the NoDa Neighborhood Association’s “Back in the Day Committee” tells stories and tours the residences of those who once inhabited the North Charlotte suburb. Free. 8 p.m. Details.

Scarrigan Farms Haunted Trail at 213 Oak Ridge Farm Highway: Visit one of the scariest haunted trails in the region. Or, for a more family-friendly option, you can go on a nighttime hayride which takes you to a bonfire (bring your own s’mores materials for roasting). $30 per person on Friday and Saturday evenings. 6-11 p.m. Details.

Uptown Farmers Market at 300 S. Davidson St.: Shop local fall produce and other fresh finds at the Uptown Farmers Market. Free. 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Details.

Not Just Coffee Halloween Block Party at NJC Jay Street: Check out work from local artists and creators at the second Jay Street Market hosted by Not Just Coffee. Free. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Details.

Tacos & Treats at The Batchmaker: The Batchmaker and Chilito Tacos are partnering up to bring delicious breakfast tacos and an assortment of spooky treats to all the early morning trick-or-treaters. Dia De Los Muertos with El Thrifty at Optimist Hall: Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos at El Thrifty with a weekend of fun events including a 1:30 p.m. dog costume contest with prizes from Pet Wants and the Charlotte Humane Society, a 9 p.m. costume contest with a chance at cash prizes, and live music from DJ RWonz all night. When We All Vote Together Voting Celebration, 221 N Caldwell St: Head to Spectrum Center to enjoy free food, music, and appearances from local celebrities and athletes before or after you vote. Free. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Details.

Full Moon Halloween Party at Cloud Bar by David Burke: It’s not every year that a full moon rises on Halloween. Enjoy the best view of the city under the night sky and a Halloween celebration at Cloud Bar by David Burke. Expect Halloween-inspired treats and beverages, live entertainment, and prizes awarded for best couples costume, scariest costume, best celebrity costume, most creative costume, and best overall costume. Counterculture Club Outdoor Yoga at Camp North End: Head to the Boileryard at Camp North End for an outdoor vinyasa flow. This socially distanced class is for yogis of all levels. Arts at Queens featuring Violet Bell at 1900 Selwyn Ave.: Join Arts at Queens for two opportunities to hear Triangle-based roots/folk/soul band Violet Bell perform on Queens’ beautiful campus. Halloween Hangover BBQ & Booooos at The Auto Pour: Don’t let your Halloween antics haunt you. Head to The Auto Pour for a plate of barbecue pork or brisket, slaw, baked beans, and mac & cheese.
