The Agenda Weekender is proudly presented by Speedway Drive-In. This summer Charlotte Motor Speedway is hosting drive-in movies every Wednesday night. Catch “Days of Thunder” on August 12. Admission is $30 per car. Snag a ticket.

Friday, August 7

Open Swim at The Quarry at Carrigan Farms: Escape the summer heat with swimming at Carrigan Farms’ refreshing natural quarry. Guests must make reservations in advance. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. $25. Details.

Weekends at The Chamber NoDa: Celebrate International Beer Day with a craft beer at The Chamber by Wooden Robot Brewery, and grub from 22 Street Kitchen food truck. Space is limited to 50% capacity with seating on a first-come, first-served basis. 4- 11 p.m. Details.


CLT Art & Sole: Take a guided walking (or running) tour of Charlotte’s neighborhood artscapes using the RunGo app. You’ll get turn-by-turn directions and information about each work of art you pass. Choose from the three distance options: short (1-2 miles), medium (3-4 miles), or long (5-7 miles). $35. 4-7 p.m. Details.

Yoga at the U.S. National Whitewater Center: Unwind from the long week with Open Level Flow and Fun Flow Yoga. Free. 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Details.

Joedance Film Festival, online: If you’re tired of watching movies on Netflix, be sure to attend the Joedance Film Festival happening virtually all weekend long. Now in its 11th year, Joedance honors the memory of Joe Restaino by raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research at Atrium Health’s Levine Children’s. It has been noted that all the films being screened are for mature audiences. Tickets are $20 ($10 for student films) 7:30- 10:30 p.m. Details.

5th & York at Middle C Jazz: Enjoy smooth jazz and classic R&B from Charlotte-based jazz band 5th & York. $26 club seating, free live stream access. 6:45 p.m. Details.

Modern Art with Gold Leaf, online: Join abstract artist Kelly Aiken in creating unique pieces of conceptual art using gold leaf. SkyBar by David Burke Grand Opening: Award-winning restaurateur David Burke is opening his newest venture, SkyBar on the rooftop of Le Méridien Charlotte. Expect signature cocktails and light American fare. This will be the first of Burke’s two openings taking place at Le Méridien Charlotte, the other being RedSalt by David Burke which is planned to open later this summer. Details.

Farm tour at Good Karma Ranch Alpacas: Venture out to Good Karma Ranch for a 45-minute farm tour where you’ll have the opportunity to touch and take selfies with alpacas. You heard me right — alpacas. Registration required. $10. 10 a.m. Details.

Summer Drive-In Series at The Music Yard: Pull up to the Music Yard for a night of summer jams. Saturday’s line up features Saxophonist and DJ, Clark on the Sax, Music Producer, DJ, Jerry Feels Good, and DJ, producer, Kckbck. Drive-By Wine Release Party at Dover Vineyards: Join the Dover family in celebrating the release of their 2018 Barrel Fermented Villard Blanc with a drive through release event. 5-8 p.m. Details.
