Overview:
The Director of Product Development and Sourcing leads the entire development and sourcing of the product range from sourcing to production. This leadership role collaborates with sales and creative to identify customer needs and builds strategic sourcing and product launch plans. This includes managing timelines from start to finish, identifying and vetting suppliers who meet quality standards, and negotiating prices and production capacity. Key contributions: Gross Profit, Quality Assurance, On-Time Product Launch, Revenue Targets.

Responsibilities:
Product development
• Collaborates with key stakeholders (wholesale sales, retail merchandising, marketing and design) in determining product launch plans and product range
• Researches market and competitors to determine most compelling product specifications and pricing
• Creates and documents product specification details
• Gets multiple quotations and samples from qualified factories
• Develops pricing/MOQ scenarios to ensure the highest gross profit and lowest inventory risk
• Creates and maintains a library of accurate product specification documents and a tracking system accessible to stakeholders
• Communicates final product spec’s and pricing to internal stakeholders (operations and China office, design, marketing, sales, and retail merchandising)
• Monitors product quality through sample inspections and factory corrective actions
• Works closely with operations and China office for ongoing quality assurance, developing corrective action plans as required
• Subject matter expertise and project implementation leadership for Centric Product Lifecycle Management software
Sourcing
• Identify and vet factories (with support from China office) that meet quality, price, and service requirements
• Maintains tracking system of factory qualifications and performance
People and professional development
• Maintains and develops staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training and coaching employees
• Collaborates with China Office manager on selecting, training, and coaching employees in China

Qualifications:
• 10+ years of direct product development and Asian sourcing experience with a consumer products company in increasing levels of leadership responsibility
• 2+ years of experience with PLM software, preferably Centric
• 10+ years managing multiple direct reports and teams
• Strong organizational skills and attention-to-detail
• Ability to focus and follow tasks from beginning to end
• Collaborative working style, able to communicate and interact well with stakeholders and teams
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
• High proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office programs, and additional required workplace software
• Flexibility to move between strategic leadership level to hands-on management of specific projects
