Overview:
This senior leader is an essential member of the Power & Energy leadership team and is responsible for positively impacting the overall success of the business.

The person in this position provides information technology services for the company to maximize the effectiveness of the tools and systems required to fulfill customer requirements, including data collection, processing, and reporting. The incumbent in this position defines and solves user requirements and, utilizing the Information Technologies team, develops and implements computer applications and solutions.

The person in this role will also contribute to developing and maintaining a sustained and long-term continuous improvement culture and an efficient organization that consistently produces improved results while motivating and retaining its employees with high-performance standards.

Responsibilities:
• Designs, develops, and implements comprehensive, computer-based information systems to ensure users’ needs are met and data is processed according to company specifications and requirements. Users include both internal and external customers
• Defines user information requirements by conferring with users and analyzing functions. Recommends and develops computer-based business solutions
• Plans system applications and assigns staff to develop, test, and complete programs. Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and offers solutions to enhance effectiveness
• Identifies and manages outsourced provider solutions, particularly in relation to organizations’ applications in Commercial, Operational and Engineering functions
• Prepares and maintains technical specifications and related documentation to secure procedures and prevent system failure. Responsible for company’s disaster recovery plan
• Researches and makes recommendations on hardware and software purchases. Guides and/or oversees the negotiations with vendors on behalf of the company to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions
• Improves existing software programs and develops new applications to meet future business needs
• Ensures hardware and software is maintained and data is secured through proper back-ups and staff training
• Manages budget and controls expenses effectively
• Hires, trains, develops and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy
• Keeps up to date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance

• Out-of-the-box thinker, decisive; experienced in and capable of leading change
• An excellent team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office
• BA in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ten or more years of experience managing an information systems/technology department in a medium or large size firm
• Solid technical knowledge and experience in the use and application of the most current technologies and products used in the industry
• MBA preferred
