We had a half-dozen of our friends over on Saturday night for book club. About every other month, we get together and share some wine and do a little potluck dinner. This time we read a breezy summer novel, “Lucky You,” by Carl Hiaasen. It’s a little nerdy and it’s fun.
This, I think, is what it means to put down roots in a place. It’s the small groups we form, rather than the large organizations we join, that really bind us to Charlotte. Have you found yours?

I had a hard time making it through this story.
