Popular Charlotte-focused clothing brand Glory Days Apparel is opening its first brick-and-mortar store this spring in the RailYard in South End.
Founder J.D. Harris says he’s targeting a mid-March soft opening with plans for a grand opening the first weekend in April.
The exact address is 1423 Winnifred Street, right across the street from Hoppin’.
Why: The Glory Days Apparel brand gained popularity through its presence at pop-up markets throughout Charlotte.
Harris explains that the question of a storefront continued to come up when interacting with fans who wanted to shop Glory Days in-person without having to wait for the next pop-up event.
“It’s humbling and exciting that our fans want us to have a spot. Having a footprint here in Charlotte and saying, ‘This is our city and we’re proud to represent it’ solidifies it,” Harris says.
Beyond just customer desire, Harris explains that the Glory Days product line has expanded substantially, making it a challenge to tote the brand’s full offerings around to events scattered all over the city.
Harris notes that the size of the RailYard’s turnkey spaces (the shop will be 368-square-feet) allows small business owners to have the room they need to grow without jumping into a massive storefront with a debilitating rent. It makes the location an appealing choice for a first shop.
What to expect: Once Glory Days settles into the new space, expect to see an expansion of the brand’s product line, including a spring collection. This may even include a Glory Days candle. You’ll also be able to do in-store pickups for online orders.
The brand plans to collaborate with its neighbors at Hoppin’, so you could see a happy hour or run club with a Glory Days tie-in.
The hours: This may adjust when the store actually opens, but for now the hours will be:
- Monday through Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Thursday and Friday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
