PlantBar, a Virginia-based plant store with workshop space and a bar, is opening in February next to Taco Mama in Dilworth.
“We are half-workshop, half-plant store,” co-owner Bailey Ryan told the Agenda.
You can peruse the aisles of plants with a glass of wine or plop down to learn how to make your own arrangement. It’s sort of like the plant version of Charlotte-favorite Candle Bar in South End, only there’s a beer and wine bar on site.
Retail: Expect shelves to be stocked with ceramic vases and planters, house plants, and everything you need to create a terrarium.
“We offer modern ceramics you won’t find in your typical garden store, as well as unique houseplants that get delivered weekly to ensure they’re fresh,” Bailey says.
Workshops: PlantBar will be covering everything from build-your-own terrarium to yoga classes to wreath making. Most classes are $35 a person and include all the materials.
Workshops will be held 6:30 to 8 every Wednesday-Saturday night, plus the occasional Sunday event. They’ll have walk-in workshops during store hours, and can host private events.
The bar: Expect the bar to have beer, wine, and mimosas. No liquor.
Expansion: PlantBar has locations in Virginia Beach and Richmond already, and after they open Charlotte in February, Bailey says they’re hoping to further expand in the southeast — they’re eyeing Raleigh and Charleston.
Location: It’ll open near Taco Mama in the newly built development called Park Square Small Shops, also home to New York Butcher Shoppe.
