Overview:
The Community Engagement Manager is accountable for leading the development and implementation of all special events for United Way of Central Carolinas (UWCC) while cultivating relationships, ensuring stewardship of organizational resources, and supporting the United Way of Central Carolinas mission to end poverty and improve economic mobility for the greater Charlotte area. As a member of the Resource Development team this individual will also be responsible for overseeing the recruitment of sponsorship dollars for our signature events. The Community Engagement Manager will work closely and collaboratively with others members of the organization and external stakeholders to lead the creation of impactful events that advance brand awareness, foster strong community relations, increase donor and volunteer loyalty, and acquire new supporters. An ideal candidate would be a highly organized strategic thinker and skilled learner committed to ensuring a high level of leadership, accountability and proven effectiveness in event planning.

Responsibilities:
• Confidently serves as the leader of all aspects of UWCC’s $1.2m golf tournament by acquiring and cultivating sponsors, vendors, logistics and execution, securing and training volunteers, and is the primary liaison between UWCC and the planning committee of external volunteers from partner banks
• Provides steady leadership and coordination of ongoing partnerships for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and National Football League (NFL)
• Consistently develops and leads the strategic execution of all UWCC events, including development of concepts, themes and formats, pre-logistical work, volunteer recruitment and training, vendor and contract negotiation, and day of execution coordination
• Provides ongoing leadership to post-event efforts including debriefs, recognition, reporting and maintenance of data
• Identifies, creates, implements, and tracks agreed upon goals, strategies, and success metrics within planned and executed UWCC events
• Proactively provides sound fiscal stewardship, development and management of event budgets
• Confidently secures, oversees, and fiscally manages event sponsorships
• Provides consistent leadership and administration of the Eventbrite registration site
• Collaboratively works with members of the UWCC team and volunteers to continually enhance and cultivate relationships to create greater fundraising and outreach possibilities
• Proudly and professionally represent the United Way of Central Carolinas on community initiatives and speaking engagements, as needed
• Represent department as needed on strategic cross-functional teams
• Support the Resource Development team by providing guidance, and leadership among all key stakeholders
• Learn and grow professionally through various avenues, but not limited to: online courses, in-person classes, seminars, conferences, books, etc.

Requirements:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in managing events or fundraising activities.
• Ability to work non-traditional hours. (Some early morning, evening and occasional weekend hours due to the nature of our events)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project), internet research and strong knowledge of social media
• Experience working with databases
• Strong and thorough understanding of nonprofit fundraising and goal setting
• Proven experience working on a large scale fundraising event, golf tournament preferred
