Woodlawn School was founded in 2002 by Karen and Dwayne Bowman on 60 acres just 1 mile north of Davidson, NC. The school opened its doors in the fall of 2002 to seven students with a clear mission of developing independent, lifelong learners through an innovative, integrated, project-based curriculum. The first class of seniors graduated in 2010. Today Woodlawn has 170 students and 130 alumni. The school is growing with an enrollment goal of 215 by August 2022. Woodlawn completed a campaign in 2015-2018 to make capital improvements and significantly expanded its dynamic academic and extracurricular programming. Annually, the ’Blazers Fund provides in excess of $200,000 in unrestricted support. Recently a parent association was re-invigorated and a booster club was started; engaging parents in building school community and targeted fundraising efforts.

Overview:
Woodlawn School, Davidson NC is looking for a new team member to serve as Director of Advancement. The Director of Advancement serves as a member of the senior leadership team as a strategic leader with shared responsibility for the health and growth of the school. As a leader the Director of Advancement will build a team of professionals and volunteers to meet the advancement needs of Woodlawn School.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising program that creates meaningful support for the school – annual, capital, major gifts and planned giving.
• Oversee the creation and implementation of a comprehensive marketing, communications and community relations plan to ensure Woodlawn School has a clear and consistent message and greater brand awareness in the community.
• Provides creative oversight, in keeping with the school’s mission, to proactively attract and enroll mission appropriate students.
• Manage and lead the Advancement Department.

The School has appointed a search committee comprised of faculty and parent volunteers and has engaged Beam Strategic Consulting to assist in the search process.

January 6 – 13: Video Responses requested of finalists
January 27 – 31: Video Interviews of Semi-finalists
Feb 10 – 17: In person Interviews of Finalists
Start Date: As soon as feasible
