Stable Hand, a new coffee shop and neighborhood hangout, is now open in South End in the space previously occupied by Good Bottle Co and Hex.
The new concept is a collaboration between the owners of Good Bottle Co. and Hex Coffee.
“For a long time we were two businesses in one space, but this is a collaboration between the two. Now it’s just going to make a lot more sense,” Hex Coffee co-owner Chandler Wrenn said.
The two brands used to share space inside the Good Bottle building, but now the goal is to create a more cohesive, consumer-facing place for both companies, with less of an emphasis on retail.
“Think of it as Good Bottle plus Hex equals Stable Hand,” Wrenn told the Agenda. “It’s just making it make more sense. We want to be the neighborhood spot.”
What: The shop offers Hex Coffee, curated craft beers on draft, natural wine by the glass, and limited food (think breakfast toasts and cheese and charcuterie). You’ll also find retail like Hex’s instant coffee (so delicious).
Vibe: Wrenn said Stable Hand will feel “fun, approachable, colorful, and a little bit cheeky.” The space has a Not Just Coffee meets Eight & Sand minimalist vibe.
Name: A stable hand is someone who cares for horses, but the name also pays homage to the history of Remount Road, which Wrenn said he grew up hearing is where the British cavalry mounted their steeds. “My long lineage of family history has always told me that, but it could just be some (old) wives tale,” he laughed.
Hours: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The exact address is 125 Remount Road.
OK, he’s a quick look around Stable Hand.
