MOA Korean BBQ & Bar, a new upscale Korean restaurant with tabletop barbecue, is coming to Uptown on the first floor of the First Citizen’s building early spring 2020.

Sean Kim, owner of 929 Kitchen & Bar in Columbia, is behind the venture.

“We are so excited [to] introduce our authentic Korean dishes with upscale atmosphere, high quality service, and wines and craft cocktails,” Sean told the Agenda. “Our first location, 929 Kitchen & Bar, has been recognized as ‘Best Korean restaurant in SC’ for the second year in a row since we opened. We’d like to expand our reputation toward Uptown charlotte.”

The menu: MOA Korean BBQ & Bar will have the same menu as its sister concept, with the addition of Korean tabletop barbecue for dinner. Expect raw, fermented, and pickled ingredients and authentic Korean flavors and dishes. Some popular menu features include:

• Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap – Korean-style marinated beef, white rice, steam zucchini, mushroom, carrot, mung bean sprouts, radish, iceberg lettuce, fully cooked fried egg ($14)
• Spicy Squid & Pork Belly Stir Fry – Wok stir-fried squid and pork belly, onion, bell pepper, scallion, served with Miso soup ($18)
• Spicy Korean Rice Cake Platter (tteokbokki) – boiled egg, four pieces of fried dumplings, rice pasta, spicy gochujang sauce, fish cake, onion, scallion, udon noodle ($18)
• Kimchi Bulgogi Nachos – Korean-style marinated beef, pan-fried kimchi, house pico de gallo ($8)

The barbecue: You’ll have the option of sitting at special Korean barbecue tables where servers will come cook the food right in front of you.

Pricing: Regular menu items are $11-$18 and barbecue is $19-$30.

Layout: The space is 5,100 square feet total with three dining halls, a full bar with high top tables around, outdoor patio with barbecue tables, and a lounge area with a meat display. They’ll also have two private

Location: The exact address is 128 S. Tryon St.

Timing: They’re targeting a March opening.
