Halloween falls on a Thursday this year which means the parties span two weekends. Hope you’ve got your costume ready. Here’s where to get weird.

Freak Fest at Common Market South End

Date: Friday, Oct. 25, 5-10 p.m.

Price: Free entry; info

Details: Live music by Deejay LoTek and freaky performances (think sword swallowing) by Stray Cat Sideshow beginning at 7 p.m. Wine and beer tasting 5-7 p.m.


OMB & LoSo Halloween Celebration

Date: Saturday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

OMB party details: They’ll have live music all day, Halloween inspired food specials and a costume contest for Best Overall Men’s Costume, Best Overall Women’s Costume, Most Original Costume (or Best Homemade Costume) and Funniest Costume.

Neighborhood passport: Get stamped at all eight locations for a chance to win a grand prize. Participating venues are OMB, Broken Spoke, Lower Left Brewing, Sugar Creek Brewing, Queen Park Social, Brewers at 4001 Yancey, Good Road Ciderworks and Red Clay Ciderworks.


Rich & Bennett’s Halloween Bar Crawl

Details: The 19th annual event is the largest Halloween bar crawl in the Southeast. Ticket includes entry to all participating bars, drink specials, event koozie, giveaways and a costume contest.

Details: Join the Humane Society for the brewery’s inaugural dog costume contest featuring three categories — funniest costume, most creative costume and best costume overall.


KISS 95.1’s Grave Digger’s Ball

Date: Saturday, Oct. 26, 6-11:30 p.m.

Price: $20 general admission, $40-$60 VIP front stage pit; buy tickets

Details: Diplo headlines Uptown’s biggest costume contest with $10,000 in prizes up for grabs.


Plaza Midwood Halloween Brewery Bar Crawl

Date: Oct. 31, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Price: Free entry; info

Participating breweries: Pilot Brewing, Legion Brewing and Resident Culture

Details: Pilot will have Harry Potter trivia 7:30-9:30 p.m. and $3 beer specials. Legion hosts music bingo at 7:30 p.m. And Resident Culture will have a costume contest from 8-9 p.m. along with a fun-sized stout aged on mini candy bars and a Sour Patch kettle sour.

Transportation: Jaunt vehicles will be stationed at each location to help you travel safely between breweries.


Haunted Pinhouse Party

Date: Saturday, Oct. 26, 7-11:30 p.m.

Details: They’ll have a costume contest, live music, haunted bowling and food from Twisted Eats — plus the debut of the new Fall Wall featuring a seasonal lineup of self-serve taps dedicated to fall beers, ciders and wines.


Sangria & Cigars at The Duke Mansion

Details: They’ll have specialty food and drinks, live music, dance lessons, a silent auction and a cigar bar with hand-rolled cigars. Note that you’re supposed to dress up but this isn’t a “spooky” Halloween party so dress to the theme.

Haunted Warehouse at Norfolk Hall

Details: A haunted maze entryway leads to the main event headlined by Richy Ahmed, Mikey Lion and Lee Reynolds. VIP tickets get you early express entry, VIP lounge and private bar access and a free poster. Costumes encouraged.


Nightmare at Trade Street at Coin Bar
