Overview:
We’re looking for a Systems Engineer with a specialty in MS SQL Database Administration to join our growing IT team. This role is a perfect fit for an IT-generalist with advanced experience in SQL administration. This is a new position located at our corporate headquarters inside the Historic Old Cotton Factory in downtown Rock Hill, SC.

What you will do:
• Work closely with the Application Services and IT teams to ensure SQL queries are optimal and perform without issues. All SQL environments will be your responsibility to ensure that they are secure, compliant, robust, scalable, highly efficient and highly available.
• Assist the IT team with general administration of Windows/Linux servers, datacenter systems (virtualization, backup, disaster recovery), end-user systems and other technology areas.
• Perform installations, upgrades, system configurations, patch updates, requested system changes and system testing.
• Develop procedures, policies, documentation and build standards for SQL servers and other systems.
• Implementing the strictest data security controls throughout the application stack.

Requirements:
• At least 3 years of experience in a system engineering role.
• At least 2 years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments and databases and specifically Always-on Availability Groups.
• Advanced, demonstrated experience with multi-node/multi-instance SQL Clusters.
• Proficient working knowledge of the SQL Language.
• Demonstrated understanding and implementation of security and data protection.
• A general understanding of virtualization (VMware, ESXi, Nutanix, etc.).
• Demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through 3 years of previous work and/or a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
• Ability to work autonomously and with others.
• Passionate about: documentation, data security, change management, diagramming, continuous learning, measuring results and learning from them, cost control, clear and concise communication (oral and written), building relationships and trust with team members and efficient time management.
Icing on the cake
• Experience with virtual SQL servers.
• Managing Microsoft Server/Active Directory environments.
• Managing Linux server environments, specifically centos.
• Application Management, such as JBOSS or other middleware.
• Other engineering/support experience, including, but not limited to networking, server/system administration, database admin, virtualization, information security, firewalls, desktops, user support, printers, web development, software development.
• Advanced information security experience.
