A second cocktail bar is confirmed for Optimist Hall called The Spindle Bar — and it’s slated to open later this summer. The brand new concept comes from the masterminds behind Billy Sunday, a Chicago-based cocktail bar also opening at Optimist.

The Spindle Bar will be in Optimist’s food hall, so you can snag a spot at the 18-seat bar or take your cocktail to go while you peruse through the food hall.

Expect draft cocktails, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition to the bar, there will be a renovated Italian Piaggio truck that’ll serve as a cocktail and beer kiosk with unique cocktails and local craft beers on tap.

Stephanie Andrews, who was the mixologist at Billy Sunday’s original location, will be making the drinks for The Spindle Bar and Billy Sunday Charlotte.

“The opportunity to reimagine the spirit of Billy Sunday in Charlotte has been an incredible experience, along with the chance to create an entirely new cocktail bar from scratch with Spindle,” she said. “We can’t wait to open our doors and start connecting with the local community.”

Cocktails: The team is still finalizing the menu, but cocktails are around $11-$13.

Why the owners are excited:  “Charlotte has such a great cocktail culture. There are many great establishments preparing well thought out cocktails such as Idlewild and Dot Dot Dot,” Chef Matthias Merges, leader of Folkart Management, said. “With our team at Billy Sunday and Spindle Bar, we want to share our love for vintage spirits and our philosophy of cocktail culture — while still having a great deal of fun doing it. We are looking forward to weaving ourselves into the cocktail community of Charlotte.”

Billy Sunday: This Chicago-based bar is known for having its creative cocktails, rare bottles and its extensive collection of aged amaro. Expect a mix of signature drinks and new libations inspired by local flavors and the south.

In terms of space, Billy Sunday will have a 1,500-square-foot space at Optimist Hall with an expansive patio; it’ll have 60 indoor seats and 50 outdoor.

Charlotte is its second location.

Other confirmed Optimist Hall tenants: Aix Rotisserie, Ava Restaurant, Bao & Broth, Dumpling Lady, GoFo Bao & Broth, Honeysuckle Gelato, Papi Queso, Suarez Bakery & Barra, Undercurrent Coffee, Zukku Sushi, Pet Wants, Billy Sunday, Fonta Flora Brewery, El Thrifty Social Club, Archer Paper, Village Juice, Felix’s Empanadas, Botiwalla, Velvet Taco and Duke Energy.
