Home of the Year is proudly presented by the Redbud Group. They’re just as obsessed with cool real estate as you are – follow along @redbudcharlotte.

You’d never guess this spa-like oasis is in Foxcroft — it feels like a fancy bungalow at a coastal resort. We love how the owners totally transformed this once traditional ranch.

Homeowner: Melanie D. Guinn and Zach W. Henderson

The home: 4,672 square feet, 5 beds, 5.5 baths

Style in 3 words: Dramatic, warm, modern

Biggest splurge and/or best investment: Selection of cedar for horizontal interior and exterior surfaces as well as porch ceilings.

“A custom, pivot door opens and upon entry, a theme of ‘fire and water’ is emphasized, tying together the great room fireplace, a pool/spa and a second ribbon fireplace located on a terminus wall directly aligned with the front door. Contrasting use of glass, black metal, stained horizontal cedar and calming color theory throughout the interior and exterior evokes a Palm Springs, spa-like environment.”

The split roof concept that truly transformed the original home’s facade and makes for a dramatic approach is what the homeowners love about their house.
