DeSano Pizza has closed its Midtown location.
A simple sign taped on the door reads, “Thank you for your patronage. DeSano Pizza has closed this location.”
No word yet on what will take its place.
DeSano Pizza Midtown has been open for almost exactly two years. It joins a string of recent closures that includes The Liberty, Hi-Tide and Rock Bottom.
If you’ve driven down 3rd Street, you’ve seen this 6,000 square foot pizza spot at the corner of E. 3rd and S. Torrence Streets (next to the Walgreen’s). The counter service concept specializes in Neapolitan-style pizzas cooked in wood-fired ovens. The Midtown location was Desano’s 6th location with flagship restaurants in Los Angeles and Nashville.
“We have had an extremely frustrating time at 3rd Street with continual staffing issues,” said owner Scott DeSano. “We were just not able to put together a consistent, sustainable crew that would allow us to provide the product and service at the level we strive to uphold as a brand and our business levels reflected that issue in a significant way.:
Don’t forget: DeSano Pizza also recently opened a Waverly location. “We are excited by the prospects there,” said Scott.
