Leasing for Phase 1 of NOVEL Montford Park is officially open. They’ve got 55 units currently available, ranging from $1,170-$3,100 in monthly rent.
We took a tour of the place, and even though it’s partially under construction, it’s still super impressive. It has all of the luxury finishes you probably already expect with brand new apartments in Charlotte, but it’ll also have a community spaces you don’t see other places (like the Bark and Brew and a drive-in theater).
Location: The complex is right off of Park Road, across from Pasta and Provisions. The exact address is 1520 Mockingbird Lane.
Overall design/vibe: They went for the mid-century modern look with tons of sleek finishes, funky wallpaper in some of the common spaces and 50s-and 60s-inspired themes throughout (like the rooftop patio and Skylounge area is called Sputnik). The individual apartments feel very modern with two-toned cabinetry, quartz countertops and glass-tile showers.
Floor plans: They’ve got studios, and one- and two-bedroom apartments available with 50 different floor plans. Each floor plan varies a little — some units have an office, some have balconies, some are walk-ups, etc.
Rent prices: Studios run from $1,170-$1,420; one bedrooms are $1,371-$1,782; one bedrooms with a study/office are $1,774-$2,019; and two bedrooms are $2,064-$3,100.
Phases: There are three phases of unit and amenity roll outs. Phase 1 is complete and includes 55 apartments and most of the interior amenities (like the gym). Phase 2, which includes 56 apartments, is slated to be complete June 1. And the final phase, which includes outdoor amenities and 226 apartments, will be done in September/early fall.
The pool situation: My big question was will the pool be open for summer. It won’t be, but, to compensate, they’re offering to cover memberships at the Harris YMCA until the NOVEL Montford pool opens. So you’ll have a place to swim and tan — it just won’t be as convenient.
Parking: The parking deck is huge. You get one parking pass per bedroom, and you can pay $75 a month for additional spaces. They also have guest passes and free retail parking on the first couple of floors.
Amenities: They’re going to have some pretty unique bonus spaces, including a drive-in movie theater on the top floor of the parking deck for movie nights, and they’re also opening a Bark and Brew dog park. The pool, which won’t be open until the final phase, is going to have cabanas, aqua lounge chairs (chairs in the pool) and plenty of other chairs for tanning. Other amenities include a huge gym with Peloton bikes and fresh towels, cold brew coffee on tap, a conference room, a rooftop lounge, library, game room and more.
Bark and Brew: It isn’t finished yet, but there will be two fenced-in dog areas (one for small dogs, one for large) separated by a beer garden. You’ll be able to BYOB, and they’ll also have tastings and pop-up events throughout the year.
Retail: There’s also some retail space facing Park Road and beside the parking deck. Details haven’t been released but you can expect a nail salon, coffee shop and a restaurant.
