Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, a tasty ice cream chain with a super popular South End location, is now open in NoDa. Expect lines.
The exact address is 416 E. 36th St., Suite 400. It’s near the light rail spot and in the same development as Wooden Robot’s new location which will also open within the next week or so.
Jeni’s Summer hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. everyday.
Fun fact: Just like the “Confetti Hearts Wall” has become one of the most Instagrammed spots in our city, look for the new “Confetti Stripes Wall” next to Jeni’s NoDa to also become Instagram famous. Both are done by artist Evelyn Henson. She’s cool.
Grand opening event: On June 27, Jeni’s will be offering FREE ice cream for all from 7 p.m. to close (they’ll be closed the first part of that day to prepare for the rush). Additionally, the first 50 in line on grand opening night will get free swag. Details.
Background: Founded in 2002 in Columbus, Ohio, Jeni’s is known for fun, interesting and often extremely unusual flavor combinations and smooth, rich ice cream with a buttercream base. Flavors include brown butter almond brittle, salted peanut butter, brambleberry crisp, cream puff, frosé, gooey buttercake and darkest chocolate.
Don’t forget: Jeni’s will also open a third Charlotte location later this summer at Park Road Shopping Center in the space formerly occupied by Va da Vie Gelato. It’s an ice cream invasion.
