A new concept named The Manchester will take over the space formerly occupied by The Liberty in South End.

The folks behind Essex Bar & Bistro and The Local, both Uptown staples, signed a lease for this South End space and will be bringing The Manchester to life.

The Manchester, a modern gastropub with a rustic English flare, plans to soft open at the end of January.

The “refined American” menu will include a prime steak and cheese sandwich, signature lobster roll, 16oz prime rib eye and maple-glazed pork belly or shrimp and lobster risotto.

Fun fact: The Agenda has also learned that there may be a speakeasy-style “secret room” with specialty cocktails.

We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about The Manchester closer to their grand opening.

The building itself will get a makeover with the exterior already repainted. Inside, expect a change to the feel of the place with work already underway.
