Some big acts are in town this weekend, including J. Cole and Florida Georgia Line, but if you’re looking for some passion, some soul and some bang for your buck (ahem, free), Jarekus Singleton is your man. Get out to the Whitewater Center Thursday. Bring your dog. Bring your friends. Bring your mom. You won’t be disappointed.

Times listed are when the show is scheduled to start, not when the doors are opened. Unless listed otherwise, prices are before taxes and fees.

Agenda Picks

  • 8/13/15: Jarekus Singleton; US National Whitewater Center, 7pm, free. Saw Jarekus at Double Door Inn in April. Didn’t know too much about him. Was blown away. Told him to come back to Charlotte. He’s back with his soulful, modern blues.
  • CANCELED: 8/13/15: Brandon Flowers, Rey Pila; Fillmore, 8pm, $33.58. Flowers, the lead singer of The Killers, released his second solo album in May. While his solo effort is quite different than his Killers’ music, listen for the catchy pop you’re used to.
