Krispy Kreme is planning to open a corporate office in Charlotte’s South End.

The Winston-Salem doughnut company has opened a permit file to upfit the interior at 2116 Hawkins Street, according to city records. That generally means that work will begin soon.

Neither the property owner, Asana, nor Krispy Kreme could immediately be reached to confirm. But Krispy Kreme executives said in December that they were planning to expand their corporate presence in Charlotte and London this year.

They’ll join a long list of high-profile tenants Asana is bringing to the area. While details remain sketchy at this point, the Hawkins Street plans show the strength of office interest in the area. Favorites like Sycamore, Zeppelin and Bang Bang Bites are nearby.

Stay tuned for more as the story develops.  I will hope for a walk-up donut window as well.
