5 things to know about the Whitewater Center’s Green River Revival, happening this Saturday

The annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration, during which the river and its channel are dyed a bright green, is back for its 9th year and expects to see crowds of over 12,000, according to the USNWC.

With activities like a trail run, yoga and live music, there’s plenty to do.

Here’s what you need to know.

Whitewater-Center-Overhead

(1) The festival is free.

As always there is a parking fee of $6, and certain activities – the Trail Run and Terrace Access Party – will have registration fees associated with them.

The normal set of festival and concert rules apply to the Green River Revival: No smoking, no outside food or beverage and no off-leash pets.

(2) Festivities kick off at 10 a.m. this Saturday, March 17, with the Color Me Green 5K Trail Run.

The race, which is untimed, winds over three miles of the grounds and sees runners hit with green dye on their way to the finish line. White shirts are recommended, and awards will be given to those who come out the cleanest.

Registration is $35 through March 14 and jumps to $42 the day of. Details.

A free, all-levels Flow Yoga class will begin at the South Ridge at 11 a.m. BYO mat.

(3) The Terrace Access Party will begin at 12:30.

Attendees will have access to a traditional Irish menu (it includes staples like Corned Beef & Cabbage Irish Stew and Irish Soda Bread), a private cash bar, ample seating and an exclusive viewing area to watch the river turn green.

The area is open from 12:30-5 p.m. Tickets ($45) will be on sale until March 15.

(4) At 1 p.m. sharp, the river will turn “as green as a four leaf clover.”

(5) Live music starts at 1:30 p.m.

The weekend’s lineup sees Kevin Maines & the Volts and the Rebirth Brass Brand taking the River Jam stage at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
