A new Japanese restaurant is gearing up to open in Uptown.

Suki Akor, a sushi bar and Japanese steakhouse, is adjacent to the new Embassy Suites hotel located directly across the street from NASCAR Hall of Fame.

The menu features specialties like Wagyu beef ($20/ounce), scallop risotto ($24) and Uptown’s first robata grill with skewers priced at $5-$20.

There’s also an extensive sushi menu and a U-shaped sushi counter where you can grab a seat and watch them make the rolls.

The robata grill, Uptown’s first, is a Japanese style of charcoal grilling and is visible behind a glass walled kitchen.

The restaurant seats about 200 and includes private rooms for 10 to 120 people.

There’s also a patio area out front on the MLK Jr. Boulevard side of the building.

Suki Akori is targeting an opening by the end of the month.

Find it at 401 E. MLK Jr. Boulevard.
