Construction is well underway on the 33-story office tower known as Legacy Union being built on the former site of the Charlotte Observer building. Bank of America will be the anchor tenant.
Now we know a bit more about what else will be built as part of the Lincoln Harris project.
A 16-floor Class A office tower is now being marketed for land adjacent to the Legacy Union tower. The new building is scheduled to total 504,000 square feet of space. I can’t imagine this project without retail, so it is possible that office floors will be on top of a retail podium.
Floors 1-4 of office space are expected to span 48,000 square feet, with floors 5-16 at about 26,000 square feet of space.
The project adds to the building boom on Stonewall Street — currently the most important street in Uptown. Not lining the street with retail would be doing it a disservice, so I hold out hope for the project to do the right thing.
Lincoln Harris is marketing the space and we will bring you more details as this story develops.
